The project involved the demolition of an existing vestibule and construction of a new, expanded vestibule to accommodate a single point of entry security checkpoint at the buildings secondary barrier free entrance. Internal building alterations were be required to enhance the entrance from a security perspective and a new set of double doors was installed to create an independent entrance for Service Ontario.

In addition, the Project also consisted of a window and masonry renewal including, but not limited to, glazing removal & replacement, rainscreen conversion of the windows, improved airtightness and energy performance. Scope also included abatement of designated substances related to the window work and a small amount of mold abatement.

The work had to be completed without interruption and/or disruption of the Court Operations at any time and, therefore, all work of any kind was completed after hours and on weekends.

All changes to the project had to be reviewed prior to moving forward as this project was completed in an occupied Heritage Building.

There were 28 Change Orders on the project. The changes did not result in a delay of the substantial completion date.  

The project involved the supply and erection of a new 160’ X 260’ clear span fabric building for the storage of dry bulk (aggregates, sugar, fertilizer, grains, etc.) and break bulk (steel, pallets, machinery, etc.) on Pier 12 in the Port of Hamilton. The 40,000 square foot superstructure was engineered and supported on 8’ perimeter walls and an interior stacking wall. The new structure included two 25’ by 25’ bi -parting doors at each end of the building along with new lighting, exhaust and make up air.

The new warehouse is part of Hamilton Oshawa Port Authority (HOPA) and the Federal Marine Terminals (FMT) new agreement to expand its operations for another 15 years at the Port of Hamilton.
