City of Thorold – Adaptive Re-Use Upgrades to Municipal Operation Centre 1543 Beaverdams Rd, Thorold, ON L2V 1N6
The City of Thorold’s 20,000 ft2 Municipal Operation Centre consisted of a one storey office building attached to a garage/ storage area for the municipal equipment and vehicles repair and storage. The project scope of work included demolition of the existing one storey office to construct a new office and lobby addition as well as a separate addition to the existing garage area to expand the mechanic area and storage. Extensive interior renovations took place within the existing garage area to create a new staff locker room, kitchen/ training area as well additional areas for a water services bay, three vehicle maintenance bays, storage for equipment and allow for growth of equipment and staffing over the next 10 years of approximately 100 full time and seasonal staff. The accommodated staff in the renovated building will include parks, cemetery, and public works operations teams all supported by an onsite administration element. The exterior site was rehabilitated to provide a new secured parking lot and a separate public works vehicle entrance
